I had a 5-week erection because of my stupidity

“This is a very embarrassing story to tell but I’m telling it in the hopes of saving someone from the pains I went through. A few years ago while I was with some friends at a roadside bar, these local herbal drinks sellers came around, hawking their many products. A friend of mine who had enjoyed different versions of the herbal drinks encouraged us to try the one called ‘kparaga’ which is specifically to aid rock hard erections.

According to my friend, ‘kparaga’ was his secret to giving girls a wild time as it would give such long lasting erections that’d leave his sexual partners gasping for breath. Shortly after taking it, I felt tingles in my private area and I thought it was pretty funny that it worked so fast. But that was just the beginning.

The next day, I woke with an erection which lasted all day and believe me, it was not funny. Days after, I still had the erection. Initially, I didn’t want to tell anyone about it because I was so embarrassed, not just by my erection but also by the stupid decision (taking ‘kparaga’) that put me in such an awkward position. Going out became a problem as I always had to wear big shirts and very tight underwear to keep my erection out of sight. It didn’t work well as any observant person would see the bulge under my pants. Also, the erection became painful.

After more than a week of dealing with it alone, I decided to call my friend, the experienced ‘kparaga’ drinker and he came over. He suggested a solution – having sex with a girl for hours; he felt that should do the trick of bringing down my erection and he wondered why I had not thought of doing so. I agreed. For hours, I had sex with a girl and nothing happened. The erection remained as it was and the girl began to protest that she couldn’t continue anymore because she was so sore.   

Since this didn’t work, my able friend came up with another idea; he took me to a local herbal doctor who treated local infirmities. The man gave me some mixtures to drink and though I was wary of taking any more strange concoctions, I forced myself to drink them out of desperation. Nothing happened. I still had a painful erection.

Finally, when the pains got out of hand, I just had to call and confide in my mother. I was so ashamed and embarrassed but I was desperate. She rushed over and for the first time since my seventh birthday (I think), my mum saw my penis again. I don’t even want to talk about what that felt like – I almost expired from the shame.

Anyway, long story short, this erection ailment lasted for about five weeks. Pain, fear and many other emotions accompanied me all through this period. I ended up undergoing very painful surgery to bring it down and the doctor told me that it was by a stroke of pure luck and God’s grace that I didn’t end up with permanent damage to my penis. For months after the surgery, I didn’t get any erections and in fact, I was so scared that my sexual life was over. But I thank God that my penis worked fine when I ventured into that area again – months and months after though I have to say, my beloved privates is not the same.

Anyway, I just want to say that we should all be careful about the things we ingest. My life almost got ruined by ‘kparaga’ so I hope people can learn from my story.   

Note: The local mixture he took is kparaga (I hope I spelt it right). It is commonly prepared by northern Nigerians and used by men to achieve strong, lost lasting erections.
