“My big sister was promiscuous and everyone
knew it. She was much older than me so I watched from the sidelines while she
ran through an assortment of guys. Some of those guys were ridiculous too
because they would go behind her back to ask me out; I wondered why she dated
all those crappy people though they were all loaded so I guess that’s why.
One day, one of her many boyfriends came
around while she was out. We spoke for a few minutes and he dropped his name
and number. Some days later, he called back but she was out again. He said he’d
wait a bit but I didn’t want him to; my sister would kill me if she came back
with another boyfriend to meet one waiting for her. For the few minutes we
argued the merits of his leaving, we bantered and laughed; he was funny and seemed
different from the others.
Other times he came around to take my sister
out, we would chat while he waited for her to get ready. I liked him and my
sister said he was one of the guys she had marked for a more serious
relationship so she was careful where she hung out with him to avoid running
into her other ‘friends’ while they were together.
One day, he came but before I could call her,
he stopped me and said he came to see me. I frowned and asked why. He shrugged
and said he just wanted to see me. Without telling my sister, I followed him
downstairs and we walked around our neighborhood, talking and laughing. I got
home with a big smile on my face.
The next day, he came to see me again and
that’s how we started seeing each other almost every day. It was a secret
relationship though; he was fifteen years older and I was a teenager. I was in boarding school and when school resumed, he’d come
to visit me there, making sure to come very early or very late to avoid running
into my family. It continued until I finished and once I got admission into the
university, he asked me to marry him and I said yes.
While all this was happening, he was
pretending to date my sister on and off – nothing serious. So, it was a shock
for her when he came to my house to ask for my hand in marriage. She was
furious, called me a slut and accused me of stealing her boyfriend. When my mum
asked what was going on, I told her I didn’t steal her boyfriend because they
never dated seriously. Besides, she had a ton of boyfriends so should not miss
one. I also gleefully told my sister what he’d said – that he could never take
her seriously because he knew she was promiscuous. He wanted me and I loved him
so why not? We are married now and my sister does not speak with me but, I know
she’ll get over it. Really, I don’t think I did anything wrong.”

You did nothing wrong but i can assure you that your sister can never get over it.....so always watch ur back
Yea, technically she did nothing wrong, but morally, I'm not so sure. We have to draw lines at certain things and I feel this is one of them. This guy was dating her sister, even if casually and from the story, it seems he was one of the few the sister actually liked. Maybe she should have withdrawn when she noticed the guy was paying her attention. And if she really felt she did nothing wrong, then why was she seeing him in secret? It really is a fine line between the technicalities and the moralities of the situation
