A crazy guy almost crashed the plane on our way from Bangkok to Kenya

This happened to my brother recently on his way back home from China. Incredible and kinda funny right?

This will seem like a movie but it actually happened to me last month. On the 21st of October 2012, as I was on a flight from Bangkok to Kenya, something crazy happened in the plane.

There was a queue for the rest room area and I noticed this white guy who was chatting with people that were seated near the rest room. All of a sudden, the guy jumped up and ran to the exit door area. Right before our eyes, he started pulling at the lever, trying to open the door. At first, I think we all thought it was a joke because people started asking him what he was doing but when he continued agitatedly, people stood up, grabbed at him and tried to stop him.

In that maniacal state, the guy was too strong. Around, some people had started crying, some were praying – among them was this young couple who were on their way to Kenya for a honeymoon after their wedding earlier that day. There was chaos in the aircraft as people began jumping up from their seats, trying to deal with the situation.

The next thing, some dreadlocked guy ran to the area, cleared it and used ‘correct’ karate movements to demobilize the crazy dude. When the guy was down, he pulled both hands behind his back, held him by the neck and twisted it into a stronghold. All these he did in a few seconds and other astonished passengers, myself included, began to clap when he had secured the crazy guy. With the help of the crew, they bundled the ‘crazy’ to a seat and sat him between two hefty dudes. I guess he had mental problems.

What a relief it was. Everyone started thanking the dreadlocked guy and we began to ask him where he got his cool fight moves from. He said he was South African and was a martial arts champion of some sort…I’m not sure. He even opened his laptop and as we all chatted, we looked through the pictures of his training school. It was pretty much fun from then on. But what a narrow escape for that crazy dude could have killed us all. Thank God he was stopped.
