“When we were in the university, a good friend
of mine was a wild child. She had a host of boyfriends and spent almost all her
time living it up with these guys. In the process, she endured one of the big
consequences of casual sex outside marriage – she got pregnant many times and
with each one, she got an abortion. At a point, she complained of her body’s
over fertile traits and we would joke about it.
Shortly after our graduation, my friend got
married and when I relocated to another city, we lost touch. We didn’t run into
each other until about eight years later and once we started catching up, I
asked how many kids she’d had; I was surprised to hear none.
Being a sensitive topic, I didn’t ask any more
questions especially as we’d not seen each other in so long but when I left her
that day, I could not help but wonder why – she’d gotten pregnant so many times
in the past that it was sad to see that when she really needed children, her
body refused to co-operate.
It’s been about seven years since I ran into
her that day, which is about fifteen years since we graduated and she’s still without
children. From the gist I got, she’s never gotten pregnant at all. So, now I’m wondering
about all those abortions – did she ever get pregnant or did she simply assume
she was anytime her period was late? I had escorted her to some of these
procedures and they were always in shady looking clinics with suspicious
looking doctors who didn’t ask questions but just poked until they could poke
no more. Now, I can’t help but wonder … Hmmm.”

Its possible she never got pregnat and the wicked doctors are busy doing damage to her insides. Too bad. But then, it might not even be connected to her childlessness now.
