My blind date’s LOL moment

I am one of those single guys who happen to hate being single. After many failed relationships, I decided to enlist the help of a few close friends to help me make a love match. The result of my actions was that I went on many bad blind dates. Maybe I was picky but for some reason, none of the girls I was matched with appealed to me for anything longer than a few minutes.

Recently, I have become even more worried about my single status and have done a lot of soul searching, trying to understand myself and my role in my single state. A few weeks ago, my friend said she had someone to introduce to me. She showed me the picture of a smart young woman who was fairly attractive. I agreed and she set us up.

To make things easier, I asked a good friend to come along. When we got to the restaurant where we were supposed to meet, my blind date was already there but she was with a friend. Immediately, we saw her, my friend pulled back before she saw us.

“What?” I asked in confusion.
“That is her, right?”
I nodded.
“Who’s with her?”
Her friend, I guess. I don’t know.”
“Well, I think we should change plans.”
“Why?”
My friend looked at me in shock. “Are you seriously asking that question?” He pointed. “Look at the friend - she is so much hotter so I’m thinking you should keep an open mind; it’s not like any commitments have been made.”
I could not believe my ears. This particular good friend of mine has been married for quite some time, had two kids and a very stable home life. I was almost forty, unhappily single and seriously searching for a soul mate and he wanted me to play stupid games. He didn't even stop to think that my blind date bringing a very pretty friend may be a test to see how I would react. I had to hold myself from punching the clown and drawing attention to us. When he saw my face, he smiled sheepishly and hit my arm playfully.
“I was just making a suggestion. You don’t have to take it.”

I shook my head and we walked in to meet the girls. Her friend was not just very attractive, she was also very lively. But then, I have met so many women in my life that I was familiar with the consequences of distractions so I just focused my attention on my date and had a good time. We still talk and go out and I am hopeful that she may be the one for me. Fingers crossed.

If you are still seeing double then you are not ready to marry yet.
