Happy new year, everyone. Hope you all had a great festive season and spent enough time with loved ones. I sure did though I deliberately avoided making any resolutions because ….– well, I prefer to stick to my monthly goals.
Anyway, after an amazing New Year’s eve party, I woke up in high spirits on the first of January of this brand new year. Seeing several missed calls from my sisters in law, I didn’t bother to call them back immediately because I knew it was probably our usual new year check ins. Shortly after, my husband came into the bedroom, weird look on his face.
What`s wrong?’ I asked.
“Just got a call from
my sisters.” He responded.
“I missed their calls – will call them later.”
“No need. They told me why they were calling.”
I frowned.
He continued, “Everyone back in our estate (where we live in
the city) is talking about us – apparently, we all died – us and the kids – in a
car accident.”
I didn’t say anything. I was confused.
“People have even come to the house to confirm the horrible
news. Someone even approached our priest about it and when the priest said he
knew nothing, they felt he was lying,
“What?” I sat up. What the hell was going on? We made calls
and a few of the people we knew confirmed they heard the story which they
discarded after they spoke to us that morning,
When we got back to our home in the city, a lot of people
took the time to throw greetings our way and we made sure to respond sweetly. As we entered our home, I shook my head – may whoever
started such a stupid rumor live long enough to see me prosper beyond their
wildest dreams.
